It is my pleasure to introduce to you a new capper and capping related website! I know you're all saying "Yes yes, Arch . . . cappers are creating new sites all the time." Of this I am well aware. But not a site like this.
Have you ever wondered what the origin of a running gag was? Ever want to help record the history of capping? Ever ask who was that capper dude you haven't seen online since '01? What was that gals' handle? Remember that piece Joe Capper wrote back in 1998? I sure would like to read that again!
Ever thought or said any of those things? Have we got a site for you!
Running on MediaWiki, the same software used by the world famous and heavily used Wikipedia.com, Capper Wiki is a comprehensive source of information on cappers and capping. It's easy to familiarize yourself with MediaWiki and is easy to use! And we need your help to fill in the blanks and add to the living history of one of the most intelligent, funny and closely knit groups of people ever to grace the World Wide Web.
Capper Wiki has specific sections on Cappers (over 500 of us and still growing almost daily!), Running Gags, Capper Essays, Capping Venues and much more!
You can start by going to the wiki and fill out your profile with as little or as much information as you'd like to share with the world. See something missing? Add it! Does that entry need correction? Fix it! Want to tell that particular capper just how funny you think she is? You can do that! The beauty of the wiki concept is true collaboration. It will evolve the way it needs to suit the needs of the community as a whole. Plus it's just darn fun!
This is YOUR capper wiki! Register your handle today and get started having fun by helping to build and record our history!
While we have begun a mass-media saturation campaign to let people know of the existence of the Capper Wiki, please let any cappers who don't get to Glitter's, IS, or subscribe to the eGroup or Generik's mailing list, know about Capper Wiki! Help spread the word!
I'd like to thank the following cappers for their support and help in building the foundation of Capper Wiki . . .
GlitterRock, Cyberbeast, Gray Zombie, Generik, WEIRD_1, Indomitus, UnReality and Moldy.
My utmost gratitude goes to the man who has truly been my right hand on this project, GersonK.
This little wild hair of mine could not have been plucked without your help, guys. Thank you!
Well? What are you waiting for?
